Meet WSLHA's Board

WSLHA is proud to be entirely volunteer-run and volunteer-led.

Every initiative, event, and resource we offer is made possible by the dedication of speech-language pathologists and audiologists who generously give their time and expertise to serve our profession and our members.

Our board members balance this work alongside their own busy clinical, academic, and professional careers — driven by a shared commitment to advancing our field here in Washington. Their time and talent are essential to fulfilling WSLHA's vision and mission, and we're deeply grateful for the passion they bring to this work.

President: Teryl Wood

Teryl pivoted to become an SLP from her previous field in linguistics when her middle son was diagnosed with ASD, in 2002. Since then, she has earned her SLPD and has worked in a variety of settings. Teryl currently serves adults receiving home health in Kitsap and Western Pierce Counties and is working on her EdD dissertation with Northeastern University. Her passions include learning, travel, gardening, farming, and everything outdoor. 

President-Elect: Kate Pilant

Kate is a private practice owner and practitioner based in Seattle, WA, and has worked in both the private practice and public school settings. Experiencing firsthand the challenges of operating and maintaining a practice, particularly one that accepts insurance, she hopes to continue building clinical community across the state and to be a strong advocate for the needs of WA clinicians.

Immediate Past-President: Laurel White

Laurel White, Ed.D., CCC-SLP, Past President of WSLHA, specializes in early childhood speech and language development at the Moses School District. Laurel lives in the Wenatchee Valley with her family and actively participates in kayak races and as a Special Olympics cross country ski coach, committed to community engagement. Laurel received a masters degree in speech-language pathology from Washington State University in 1983, followed by an international fellowship with the Rotary Foundation, earning a diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She worked for 24 years with Migrant Head Start programs, contributing to early childhood education for diverse populations. In 2011, Laurel earned an administrative degree from Central Washington University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2017 from Seattle University, further enhancing her leadership capabilities. Laurel's participation in multiple ASHA communities reflects her commitment to building quality educational programs that promote equity and access for all students.

 Treasurer: Caitlin Schlosser

Caitlin is a medical SLP with over 10 years of experience in acute care settings across the Seattle area. Her clinical expertise focuses on dysphagia and communication disorders in patients recovering from stroke, critical illness, and serious or end-of-life conditions. She is passionate about improving patient outcomes through evidence-based care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches to rehabilitation and recovery.

In addition to her clinical work, Caitlin serves as a Program Manager with the American Heart Association, where she leads initiatives focused on advancing rural stroke care and rehabilitation programs. Her work aims to improve access to high-quality care and reduce disparities for patients living in underserved communities.

Caitlin holds a BA in Linguistics from UC Berkeley, and BS & MS in Medical Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. She is a graduate of the ASHA Leadership Development Program and is actively involved with WSLHA as the treasurer and a member of the Honors and Awards Committee. 

 Outside of work, Caitlin enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband, Marco, and their two dogs—a Shiba Inu named Misha and a Samoyed named Lumi. Her career reflects a deep commitment to patient care, community service, and leadership development.

Secretary: Gloria Lam

Gloria Lam is a trilingual pediatric speech-language pathologist from Singapore who has been in the United States for over 10 years. She received her Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Washington in 2019. Her passion belongs to supporting children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She previously worked with school-age children and is currently primarily working with the birth-to-three population in Eastern Washington. Gloria is eager to devote her knowledge and skills to the Secretary role by facilitating effective communication and maintaining accurate records. As a liaison to the Communications Committee, she is committed to fostering open and timely communication among members, the community, and the board. She looks forward to ensuring every voice is heard and valued while supporting the association’s mission to promote connection and inclusivity. Outside of her professional work, Gloria enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her family.

Member-At-Large: Lori Price 

Lori Price is a practitioner-researcher based in Bellevue, WA. She is the owner/lead therapist of Apple Tree Speech, where she provides mobile clinical services to children and families. Her current research focuses on AI readiness among special educators and speech language pathologists working in K-12 special education. She hopes to help WSLHA continue building a vibrant, connected professional community. In her spare time she and her husband enjoy traveling and walking with their two GRs including 14 year old senior golden Mac.

Clinical Practice Representative: Katie Clutter

Katie is an owner and COO of Children’s Therapy of Woodinville, a multidisciplinary pediatric clinic serving children and families in the greater Seattle area. Katie has been a practicing speech-language pathologist since 2006, with clinical experience in pediatric speech and language development, feeding, motor speech, and social communication. In her role at Children’s Therapy of Woodinville, Katie oversees clinic operations, staff development, hiring, policy development, clinical supervision, and collaboration across multiple disciplines. Her work as both a clinician and clinic owner has given her firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges faced by providers in private practice and healthcare-based settings.

As WSLHA’s Clinical Practice Committee Board Representative, Katie hopes to help continue to strengthen communication between clinical providers and the WSLHA Board. She is especially interested in building connections across clinics, private practices, medical organizations, universities, and early intervention programs throughout Washington. Katie is passionate about supporting practical, collaborative advocacy that reflects the needs of clinicians and the families they serve.

Education Practice Representative: Rachel Dotson Stokes

Rachel is a graduate of Reed College (B.A. Psychology) and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (M.A. Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences). She is currently serving her second term as the board education practice representative. During this time, Rachel has presented on advocacy strategies at the PNW Therapy Summit and helped lead the school committee's virtual town hall. To support her leadership work at WSLHA, Rachel participated in the ASHA Leadership Development Program school-based cohort for 2024-2025. She is passionate about supporting SLPs as they navigate advocacy and the unique challenges and opportunities of school-based positions.

University Representative: Heather Moore

Dr. Heather Moore is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Western Washington University. She has over 25 years of experience working with young children with disabilities and their families across home, community, school, and clinical settings. Her research examines the efficacy and efficiency of family centered, naturalistic language assessment and intervention, as well as effective practices in pre-service and in-service professional development. She is honored to serve as WSLHA's first University Faculty Representative and is deeply committed to advancing the mission of WSLHA and the field of speech-language pathology. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, reading, gardening, and exploring the trails and forests in our beautiful state.

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Representative: Elizabeth (Izzie) Dahl

Elizabeth L. Dahl recently graduated from Baylor University with a Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She will begin her Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship in August. She is also a licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in Washington State. Additionally, she also holds a Master of Education degree in Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She enjoys being a voice actor
and stage actor and directing plays. Her areas of speech-language pathology interest include Augmentative and Alternative Communication, American Sign Language, fluency, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and self-advocacy.

Student Representative: Zahra Siddiqui

Zahra Siddiqui is pursuing her MS in speech-language pathology at the University of Washington (CoreSLP track). She received her bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and speech, language, and hearing sciences from the University of Arizona, where she co-founded the Research-Based Approaches for Multilingual Practice Conference in 2025. Zahra’s research interests include implementation science and multilingualism. Her master's thesis project focuses on analyzing bilingual and multicultural track and certificate programs in MS SLP programs to determine how to effectively prepare clinicians for multilingual and multicultural clinical practice. In the clinic, Zahra has enjoyed working with clients across the lifespan in settings including early intervention and outpatient dementia care. Zahra enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family in Pakistan and Arizona.
