This course reviews professional conduct requirements for speech-language pathologists under the RCW and WAC, comparing them with the 2023 ASHA Code of Ethics. Updated from the original 2021 presentation, it reflects current Washington State laws and addresses emerging ethical issues, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

This course focuses on creating and implementing low-tech communication systems for emerging communicators in and out of the classroom setting. The course includes a brief review of what augmentative alternative communication (AAC) is, examples of no-tech, low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech AAC systems, and the difference between a communication system and a classroom support. Participants will learn how to create low-tech communication systems and classroom supports using the PASS software.
