Listservs/Email Lists
WSHA has put together listservs for each county in Washington, as well as a state wide listserv.
Listservs Mission Statement
Listservs Guidelines
To allow all members on the listserv to benefit in the most productive way from this listserv, the Board asks that the following guidelines be observed:
- The State listserv is intended for or WSHA members only. At this time we are aware of the financial constraints of membership and the benifits of having a statewide forum. Therefore, because it is in the best interests of our profession in this state you may be a member of the state list serve even if you are not a member of WSHA. (please note that WSHA relies on its members to function and without member support WSHA will not be able to function.)
- Listserv members should refrain from responses to the listserve itself which only serve as a simple affirmation of another member's comment. Responses that add additional information are always welcomed. Simple affirmation responses may be made to the specific individual via his/her personal e-mail address. This guideline is set up in order to decrease the amount of mail sent via the listserv.
- Listserv members are highly encouraged to provide descriptive information on the "subject" line so that members can determine the gist of the e-mail before reading it.
- When a member wants information dealing with a specific situation (e.g., a resource for a particular case, specific information on legislation action), s/he should write the list, requesting information and include his/her e-mail address. Then, members should reply directly to that member. Once a sufficient amount of information has been gathered, it is expected that the member will post the findings of that query. This strategy proves to be both time and energy efficient.
- As is consistent with ASHA guidelines for conventions and publications, listserv members must not promote, take orders for, or sell products, services, or materials of their own or for which they receive compensation. This does not preclude individuals from discussing the pros and cons of products, services, and materials that are commercially available but for which they have no financial interest. This guideline also does not prohibit members from discussing the theoretical underpinnings of products, services, and materials for which they have a financial interest when it appears incorrect information is being presented by others.
- Individuals wishing to unsubscribe should follow the directions listed above before signing off the listserv.
- Opinions expressed by WSHA members or Board members do not necessarily represent the opinions of the WSHA board.
